The Database Doctor was originally written in 1997 to manage text file databases for use with
Selena Sols webstore.
The years have seen many improvements for the Database Doctor, but it has
always proved to be an excellent starting point for many custom projects we have done.
The latest version of the Database Doctor is simply the best yet. The Pro version
is available starting at $49.95, and is upgradable to any future versions of the same version number.
The Database Doctor manages and displays text file databases of any field
size. This powerful script can easily be used for a directory of
addresses, products, or any list you can imagine. The display script is
very customizable, but automated so that it works right out of the box as well.
The Database Doctor features include column settings for required fields, unique fields, data types,
default input and more. Easy forms for adding new items, preview, editing,
deleting, search, sort by field, and will even prepare a page of your data
for printing.
Searches performed in the front end script are done with get or post, have any or all text
searching capability, and can be limited to search only in one specific column. You set the limit on how many results
are displayed on each page, with links to the next results. Results are displayed
in HTML that you can customize easily, or can be created by the script itself.
Version 4.0 has just been released. Now with an Online Manual,
Newsletters and Public Entry Forms are now standard features.
Public Entry Form
A form for the general public to submit a record for your approval. In the manager a Pending Approval
section has been built that allows editing, deleting, or adding these records to the main database.
With this feature, collecting any type of information from the visitors of your site is a snap!
Newsletters
The ability to mail newsletters to to email addresses
included in a specific column of the database.

PS: For anyone viewing this who's also considering migrating up and wondering if their
data file will be preserved, I really should add that I found it wasn't a problem. I renamed
my existing data file to a new name and specified exactly the same field names in the
database setup, then uploaded it into the cgi-bin. Whammo! Worked fine!"
